The Green Smell of Rain

Listen to White noise:  Here

I close my eyes and listen to
the gently falling rain
small constant background
of white noise that soothes
my harried mind
and I relax… and feel… green.
Green as the thirsty blades of grass,
sated like the dripping green leaves,
refreshed like the moss
now deeply darkened and soft.
Mellow, fuzzy, sagey green, I feel.
The rain washes away
the dust motes and pollen
drifting in the air and it smells…
green sodden rock, bursting bud,
ozone charged, petrichor,
the palest, barest hint of green,
just the beginning of scent,
subtle flowery, earthy notes
not yet fully formed… fertile green.

sated like the dripping green leaves.” Beautifully executed.

  4. This is a real ‘green treat’! By the way, sage green is one of my favourite colours. It always seems fresh and clean to me.

  5. This is refreshing in all senses – rain can be invigorating and renewing and like petrichor it provides a shift in the head and spirits – and now you mention it green..like dew on grass fits perfectly into this feeling

Powerful lines debi! Green rock wet through nature that gives in to a nearby exploding bud. Beautifully set!
